The Southwest Ethiopia Peoples Regional State is a home for thirteen native nationalities, Namely., Kafecho, Nao, Chara, Dawuro, , konta, Benchi, Sheko, Shakecho, Majang, Me’init, Dizi, Suri, and Zilimamo and many others across from the country. The People of the Region has long history and known for their unique identity while sharing various socio-economic and political thoughts with each other. At current administrative setting the region is divided into six zones and over 60 urban and rural woredas. The region is known for its unique biodiversity where people and its evergreen dense tropical forests live in harmony for many centuries. The dense forests are homes for various strategic plants and wildlife. The long-wet season in the region enabled crop production and animal husbandry. Coffee, Spices and industrial minerals as well as precious metals including Gold are characteristic features of the region.
